The design of OrbisNox is rooted in visual purity. The Major Arcana reimagine traditional archetypes with minimalist forms, while the Minor Arcana employs basic shapes to reflect each suit’s symbolism. The color palette—black, white, and neon red—emphasizes mystery and modernity.
Two back designs distinguish the tarot from the astrological cards, highlighting the dual nature of the project. The box, crafted from natural cotton paper, is not just a container but an experience. It wears with use, alluding to the analog and ephemeral, contrasting with the futuristic cards. Its orientation is fluid, inviting the user to rotate it and explore.
The typographic choices, combining modern fonts with monospaced programming typefaces, nod to the tech-driven process behind the deck.
A unique "witness card" includes a fragment of the original code, connecting all owners of the deck to its creation.
PHILOSOPHY OF DESIGN
OrbisNox challenges the dogma of design as "functional solutions" by embracing beauty rooted in meaning. This deck demonstrates how design, like tarot, relies on symbols to generate meaning. AI was a tool for conceptualization, always serving the idea, never dictating it.
It’s a design object, an astrogram, and a tool that illuminates the unknown, inviting reflection, exploration, and reinterpretation.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
OrbisNox consists of 120 cards: 22 Major Arcana, 56 Minor Arcana, and 42 additional cards including astrological elements, Houses, and other thematic additions. The cards are printed on high-quality stock with a smooth, laminated finish, and feature UV spot lacquer on the back for an enhanced tactile experience.
The deck comes in a custom-designed box crafted from cotton paper (Natural Evolution White, 320gsm), which wears with use, reflecting the deck’s dual nature: analog and futuristic. The design of the cards is minimal yet deeply symbolic, with each element thoughtfully conceptualized to maintain both historical significance and room for future reinterpretations.
